Cardinal Dominance

Louisville Cardinals - Basketball - Football - Baseball

Writing on this site is fun and helps get the grey matter stirring when I do. I was chatting with a friend last night over a couple of 12 oz chillies and somehow the discussion turned to Louisville football. Imagine that! He commented that he'd love the chance to just sit down with Krags and ask a few pointed and direct questions about the program and the upcoming season. Wouldn't we all?

So, Steve...if you happen to read this column, feel free to respond. Some of the questions below will probably answer themselves as the season goes on. Some we may never get a clear answer on. You readers may have a whole entire different set of questions to ask. But, based on last night's conversation and a few I tossed in, here's the agenda.

1) What really happened between you and Jeff Brohm? The truth, not the glittering generalities that the media reported.

2) What record do we have to put in the books this year for you to consider this season a turning around point for the program?

3) Did the defense "give up" on you during the last couple of games last year?

4) Who do you think will be the impact players for us this year?

5) If you could go back in time, would you still accept this job?

6) Has Jurich given you a timetable and a guideline for results that need to be reached?

7) At what point do you toss the cards on the table, cash in the chips and walk away from your role here?

8) In your opinion, are fans expectations too high for this program?

9) If you were grading yourself on your performance here, what do you score? (A thru F)

10) What did you say to Wolfe and Simms, if anything, that caused them to leave the program?

You have one hour to complete the quiz, coach. Keep your eyes on your own paper and best of luck. Remember, it's all on you.

I don't think he would say the defense "gave up". IMO, injuries was that cause of the defensive downfall at the end of the season.

Oh man.......

Wouldn't we love to know the answers to those doozies......

I was talking with Terry on the phone the other day, and I was thinking about going to see Rod Council in prison or writing to him, to do an interview on his time here, Petrino, Kragthorpe, and some other issues.

I am sure Rod would not mind a little company........

1) Really this one would be a good one know. Since he was praising him and promoting him one year to only offering him an administrative postion the next. WTF, something really doesnt seem right with this whole situation.
2) He would probably say something like going 7-5 or 8-4 with a bowl game. That would be the worst thing to happen since that would save his ass for a couple of more years. Not that I want to lose...I dont want that for the boys at all....but I dont want him he either.
3) I agree with Terry on this one. They started out the year slim on D anyway. Once a couple started to fall they started to crumble. I think English did an excellent job with what he had to work with.
4) This one I would like hear. It would interesting to see if he actual knows his players and to take what he says into the season.
5) If we could go back in time, would we still offer his ass the job.
6) Jurich would have been better off just giving him the book "Coaching for dummies"
7) I dont think he is bright enough to know when to cash in the chips and call it quits.
8) He better say NO since before he took over we were one game away from either playing or being mentioned in the NC game. Not to mention an undefeated season. But the 11-1 with a BCS bowl win was awsome, the buzz around Louisville Football was great. How in the hell do you not even make a bowl game next season after this team accomplished that? Thanks Krags, your overnight tearing down job worked perfectly.
9) F - nothing higher than that would be exceptable.
10) He didnt say anything, they realised what kind of roller coaster they were on and decided to get off before it crashed.

I hate being sooo negative towards the team. I love my cards. But I was done with this guy when he blamed Petrino for his failures for the first season. Bad apples my ass. Pertrino put discpline into the team. The players even said it themselves. Petrino had more passion and a fire under him. He didnt have that dear in the headlights look on the sideline.
