Cardinal Dominance

Louisville Cardinals - Basketball - Football - Baseball

(The "squid" reacts in horror as another one of Sonja's picks fails to hit the board)

First of all, what is the deal with local legend Calvin Borel only getting two mounts in the 14 Breeders Cup races? OK...here they are...
(Disclaimer: All selections are for entertainment purposes only. That being said, good luck and bet with your head...not over it. I've listed tmy winners first and so on in each breakdown, but I rarely "straight bet" so wager accordingly. )

FRIDAY

MARATHON (1-3/4 mile)
CLOUDY'S NIGHT, trained by Jonathan Sheppard has a shot to light it up at a price. MASTERY, out of the tough European stable of binSuroor will be there looking for a photo op. NITE LIGHT with Johnny V. on board should get a piece of it. We'll also toss longshot GANGBUSTER in there to complete the superfecta.

JUVENILE FILLIES TURF (1 mile)
British invader LILLIE LANGTRY gets my vote here. Red hot trainer Ken McPeek could upset with HOUSE OF GRACE. JUNIA TEPZIA's owner paid the $90,000 supplement to run...beware. LISA'S KITTEN has Julian Leparoux on board, could be in the sandbox.

JUVENILE FILLIES (1-1/16 mile)
SHE BE WILD is coming up to this race red hot. BLIND LUCK, a Jerry Holendorfer gal, knows the track. BEAUTICIAN and CONNIE AND MICHAEL are both McPeek entries and will fight for a piece of it.

FILLY AND MARE TURF (1-1/4 mile)
PURE CLAN should love this distance. FOREVER TOGETHER will be there to pick up the leaders at the end...watch out for her. MAGICAL FANTASY will be bet big and could prevail. RUTHERIENNE gets a piece of the superfecta.

FILLY AND MARE SPRINT (7 furlongs)
They won't catch VENTURA and Garrett "Go-Go" Gomez in this one. SEVENTH STREET looks to be the best of the rest. INFORMED DECISION is 5 for 6 and gets Leparoux. GAME FACE could best these with a perfect ride from Edgar Prado.

LADIES CLASSIC (1-1/4 mile)
CARELESS JEWEL is a speed loving million dollar winner as a 3 yr. old. Watch the board. MUSHKA will be flying late and could get a part of it COCOA BEACH always runs big in this race. LIFE IS SWEET bests the rest of them.

OK...that's Friday...Ladies Day. I'll give you the Saturday picks next time.

Notes on the first day...
Race 1. Well we lost a heartbreaker at the wire with Cloudy's Knight to Man of Iron but across the boards paid very well. No luck with the exacta. Don Knobel had Man of Iron as his long shot. Showoff.

(A special thanks to Tom, Joe, Norma and the other crazies of the paddock area who kept me in line and made it a fun day. )

Race 2. Tapitsfly with Albardo ruined the party in this race. Starting to look like a long day..

Race 3. OH YEAH! She Be Wild stole one for us and Beautician ran second. That's a nice exacta and across the board. We're back, baby!

Race 4. Midday won as expected...but Pure Clan ran a determined second so we made a profit across the board there and we're still up.

Race 5. Informed Decision knocked off Ventura so we got place and show money back on Ventura and hit a small exacta.

Race 6. Whoa! Ended with a nice exacta with Life Is Sweet winning and Mushka running second! Our pick Careless Jewel faded badly but the exacta more than made up for that across the board.
