I arrived at PJCS about 10 am, to already quite a few Cards fans in line outside of the gates. About, 10:30, people working the gates brought out a box of posters (not the official Sugar Bowl poster) and basically handed them in handfuls through the gate to the fans...I was thinking they thought everyone would take one and share...not so much. The lady behind me grabbed a handful and gave and a few other people one.
At 11 the gates opened...and the dash BEGAN!!!
We made our way up into the stadium only stopping at a table to get our posters (the real one) while we were asked to take 1, we generally grabbed more. I ended up with 3, thinking I was getting 2.
Then we made our way onto the field...I was just happy to actually be on the field...it's an amazing experience, I made my way over to get my picture taken with the Sugar Bowl Trophy and afterwards had a security guard take a pic of me with Johnny U (minus the inflatable tunnel).
Immediately after that I beelined to the coaches line, from prior experiences, I've learned this line can be a pain to be in. When I got in line we were just outside of the gate to the stadium...this was 11:30. I was fortunate to be around some cool Cardinal fans, a guy who's name I can't remember and a TARC driver named Stella, who had the coolest Cardinal Candy Jar to have signed. We kept each other distracted from the wait.
The Cardinal Bird made it's way up our line and we all took turns taking photos with him...he even signed Stella's Football skin purse (it was really nice). Around 1:15, security started making announcements about item/autograph limits and time constraints. At 1:40, we were just about to step back on the field turf when Strong got up and literally walked down the line signing autographs.
The man was visibly tired and no one could blame him, when he got to us, we once again took photos of each other getting our item signed. I thanked Strong for doing this and he said "no problem" but understandably wasn't able to personalize his autograph for me (totally understandable).
Because Strong did this, it greatly reduced the people in line, so we were able to go and get the rest of the coaches autographs. By this time it was 2 and raining so everyone was leaving.
Great day, I'd do it all again!
