Cashmere Wright led Cincinnatti with 22 points and singlehandedly kept the Bearcats in front in the first half with four three pointers in the first 10 minutes of play.
Cincinnati has now won two consecutive games over two teams heading into the NCAA Tournament and strengthen their at large case heading into the last week of play.
Louisville cut the lead to 56-53 on Siva's jumper but that was as close as they would get in the final 1:17.
Kyle Kuric who had been averaging 13 points per game had His worst shooting night as He shot 0-7 from beyond the arc and only scored 4 points for the game.
Chane Behanan had 11 points and 7 rebounds, Dieng had 11 points to go with 13 boards,Russ Smith's 11 and Peyton Siva's 14 and 4 assist led the Cards attack.
Cincinnati's three point shooting proved to be the difference in this contest last night as they shot .407 pct from the Arc on 11-27 shooting with Cashemere Wright hitting 6 of them.
Comment by P Streble Sr. on February 24, 2012 at 6:05am The difference in the game was ZERO senior leadership offensively for UL Kuric, Chris Smith, Swopshire=ZERO
The other teams seniors are stepping up and getting it done. Why can't Pitino get HIS seniors to step up. Setting up for yet another early round Pitino tourney exit. Kuric and C. Smith and Swop are positioning themselves to join TWill, Sosa, J. Smith and others as March Sadness upperclassmen. Kuric can't hit from inside the arc to save his life, much less the team. UL is no longer mentioned on National TV as an elite basketball member. Nobody adds UL when talking of the elites like Kansas, Duke, UNC or even Michigan State.
Comment by David L Horlander on February 24, 2012 at 1:25pm Great observation Paul. Until UofL can stop Cashmere Wright we are unlikely to beat them unless we start to make the wide open shots we missed last night. I agree with you Paul that UofL is no longer an elite program and that started in Crum's last 10 years at UofL.
Comment by will hall on February 24, 2012 at 5:02pm the problem is a $3.5M coaching who keeps a hot player(bohanan) on the bench. not going man to man on a three point shooting team is just poor coaching. we can do better. we will be one and done again this year in the tournament. recruits and their families are seeing rick's meltdown and going elsewhere.
Comment by David L Horlander on February 24, 2012 at 5:11pm Will-It looks like UofL will be another one and done. Rick Pitino is not a very good bench coach.
Comment by Kevin Johnson on February 24, 2012 at 6:36pm Pitino needs to pursue other interests. i didn't think he was a good bench coach at uk (which was fine with me) and he has given me no reason to change my position.
Comment by will hall on February 24, 2012 at 6:44pm kevin..the last time rick pursed other interest it took "ten seconds" and a whole lota legal expenses
Comment by Kevin Johnson on February 24, 2012 at 6:51pm I thought it was 15 seconds, but point taken...the game has passed him by... when the cardinals win a close game, the players do it in spite of him (and Siva).
Comment by will hall on February 24, 2012 at 6:57pm david horlander...i am sure i went to grade school with one of your relatives either joe or fritz ...their father owned funeral home on broadway
Comment by dimori on February 24, 2012 at 7:38pm To Me the talent level is not there this year to get in the dance and win 2-3 just don't see it.It all starts with recruiting and developing that talent and I think the last 2 years the recruiting has not been there.Behanan will be a stud there is no doubt.
Comment by David L Horlander on February 24, 2012 at 7:58pm Will-Joe and Fritz both graduated from Flaget. Not sure about grade school. Funeral home around 23rd and Broadway.
