LOUISVILLE, Ky. - At Louisville's Papa John's Cardinal Stadium this Saturday at noon, the #118 RPI Florida International Golden Panthers roll into town with first-year head coach Ron Turner to face the #6 Louisville Cardinals. This is not the FIU team that came in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium in 2011 and handed Louisville a 24-17 loss, with Heisman Trophy candidate WR T.Y. Hilton, who is now the electric starting receiver for the Indianapolis Colts in the NFL. Not even close. Let's just be blunt about this.... Currently, FIU is one of the worst FBS teams in the nation statistically. In FIU's first three games in 2013, they are 0-3 and have given up a whopping 115 points and only have put 23 points on the scoreboard. FIU's three losses: 43-10 to #69 RPI @ Maryland, 38-0 to #33 RPI UCF and 34-13 to #110 RPI Bethune-Cookman this past Saturday.
FIU only averages 7.7 points and 191 yards of total offense per game. FIU starting QB Medlock, is 30 of 55 in pass attempts, with only 303 total yards in through the air, 1 TD, 1 INT and a 54.5 passer rating. FIU feature running backs Caldwell and Randolph, have only rushed for 187 yards in 62 total rushes (3 yards per rush average).
In the 17 statistical categories for FBS football in the pregame game notes, FIU ranks over 100 in nine of them. FIU does have four areas they do moderately well at: 1: Punt Returns - #17. 2: Tackles for Loss - #28. 3: Kickoff Returns - #37 4: Pass Defense - #41. Other than those four areas, FIU's statistical numbers are among some of the worst in FBS football.
Scouting Report: MASSACRE - Look for Louisville head coach Charlie Strong to give a lot of opportunities to 2nd and 3rd string players against FIU, and watch for this game to get out of hand, even with most of the Louisville starters on the bench for the 2nd half.
Score Prediction: PAIN - Louisville 45, FIU 6.
